Like
most couples, we assumed that starting a family would come easy. The first couple of years of dealing with
infertility were especially difficult as we struggled to understand why it
wasn’t happening according to our timetable.
During those years, we both wrestled with feelings of failure and
hopelessness. Once we went through
diagnostic testing, we at least had answers to the unknown, which helped with
being able to process it. Over the past
five years, we’ve experienced a range of emotions from anger to sadness to
grief. Abby’s heart was called to
adoption sooner than Austin’s, however, she had faith that God would work on
Austin’s heart if that was the path for them.
In December 2011, God revealed to Austin that adoption was the chosen
path to parenthood that He intended for us.
As a couple, we finally fully understood that we were special, not
broken, and that God had unique plans for us.
We both felt at peace and extremely excited for the next chapter of our
lives to begin. The plans God has in
store for us are bigger and more wonderful than what we could have ever
imagined. The infertility and subsequent
adoption journey has caused us to develop a stronger marriage and an even
stronger faith. Our walk with the Lord
has been greatly impacted and we are closer to Jesus now than ever before. We are extremely excited about this journey
leading us to the child that God will place in our family. Why We are Adopting
